Reduced entry fee deadline fast approaching for the Bord Gáis Energy Cork City Marathon!
Half price entry fees for unwaged
Organisers of the Bord Gáis Energy Cork City Marathon, taking place on Bank Holiday Monday 7th June, today reminded people that individual runners and relay teams who register before the end of April can take advantage of the reduced entry fee. Up until 30th April, entry fees are set at €70 for individuals and €100 per relay team. After this date, the fees will increase by €10 until the deadline for entries closes on the 10th May 2010. Event organisers also highlighted the fact that concessions are available for those in receipt of social welfare benefit, making the current entry fee €35 for an unwaged individual and €50 per relay team (if all team members are unwaged).
Jim O’Donovan Race Director encouraged as many people as possible to take advantage of the discounted fees this week. Mr. O’Donovan said “The Bord Gáis Energy Cork City Marathon is known as the marathon for everyone and we hope that many of those who are unemployed around the city and county will benefit from training for and taking part in the marathon. By reducing the entry fee for the unwaged, students and old age pensioners we hope to encourage as many people as possible to run, walk or jog on June 7th and get involved in this all-inclusive event.”
The Bord Gáis Energy Cork City Marathon is one of Ireland’s biggest sporting events. Up to 10,000 people are expected to take part this year and organisers hope to raise €3million for over 150 charities, including this year’s designated charity the Irish Cancer Society.
